Johnny Homer is a journalist, broadcaster, author and tour guide. He is based in Whitstable but was born and bred in London. The Great Wen remains one of the loves of his life and he is well-known to Londoners as a regular and long-serving contributor to the Robert Elms Show on BBC Radio London. He can be hired to host private, bespoke London walking tours. His written work has appeared in national newspapers and a variety of magazines, among others The Guardian, The Face, NME, Melody Maker, Sounds, The Buzz, Focus, Vox and What’s On In London. Until the end of 2012, after almost seven years on the job, he was sports editor of four weekly Kent newspapers, Canterbury Times, Faversham Times, Herne Bay Times and Whitstable Times. He has an opinion on what has happened to the papers since his departure and will share it with you if you buy him a pint. He is heartened that complete strangers still tell him they miss his In The Zone column. He has also been a member of staff at both the Press Association and Oracle Teletext. He loves to walk and is also the author of Canterbury Pubs, published by Amberley in September 2015, and City of London Pubs, which was published in April 2016. Whitstable and Herne Bay Pubs followed in August 2016. Brewing in Kent was published on September 15, 2016. Clerkenwell and Islington Pubs is published on May 15, 2017. He can be contacted at jonhomer@hotmail.com.
